Regarding David Thomson's letter ('Correcting
The Figures', Shetland News, 29 Nov. 2008) I would like
to say that in the presentation given to MSPs by Viking Energy the
number of jobs seem to have increased quite dramatically both on the
construction side as well as during the proposed life of the
windfarm.
Could Viking Energy give a more accurate account as to where the
jobs will be, who is going to pay their wages and whose money will
be used?
My understanding of the figures is that there will be a lot more
jobs outwith our islands than there will be here, so this would seem
to be another step by Viking Energy to butcher the hills of Shetland
for the benefit of people who don't even live here.
