Innovative film making project

OFFENDERS, ex-offenders and their families are being encouraged to team up with the council's adult learning services to embark on a film making project about "being an offender in Shetland".

The Voice project aims to improve the communications skills of those caught up in the criminal justice system, in a bid to strengthen their learning and employment opportunities.

Last year a group of unemployed adults made a film 'Mental'. This led to positive changes for participants, most moving into employment, volunteering or further learning.

The Voice project has been made possible through close partnership work with the Criminal Justice Service, Shetland College, Careers and Burnt Candle Productions.

People interested in getting involved should

contact the adult learning centre, at the Hillhead, on 01595 743 888.
