SHETLANDERS of all ages wanting to get involved in a major film
project being shot in the isles are being invited to attend casting
sessions for parts in the movie.
London-based Fresh Paint Picture's will be producing their feature
film 'The Blackening' in April and May.
The film is a social drama about a prodigal son's return to his
homeland and will be released on cinemas, DVD and television. The
north isles of Unst and Yell will provide locations for the
fictional island of Breda.
'The Blackening' is directed by established filmmaker James Erskine
and is supported by financiers from London, Oslo, Stockholm and
Hollywood. .
Mr Erskine started his film career in 2004 with the Anglo/American
psychological thriller 'EMR' which won several international awards
including the Jury Prize at the Raindance Film Festival.
Since then he has been nominated for an Emmy award for the 'Human Face',
won the Channel Four Film Challenge and directed episodes of the BBC
soap opera Eastenders. |

Unst and Yell will play host to an international production crew and
a cast of up to 50 from Norway, England, Scotland and America.
Fresh Paint Pictures are using former RAF Saxa Vord as their
production base and are working in partnership with Military Asset
Management to transform the buildings into state-of-the-art film
studios.
The production company is actively seeking skilled labour in the
north isles to contribute to the set design and construction. They
are currently interviewing joiners, carpenters and painters. They
have also employed local administrators onto the production team.
The film's Shetland based production manager David Hammond confirmed
that the film will provide a considerable investment into the north
isle's economy.
Casting sessions will take place at Islesburgh Community Centre.
Lerwick, on Monday 9 April from 2pm-8pm and on Tuesday 10 April, at
Uyeasound Community Hall, Unst from 2pm-8pm. |
