Victoria Pier incident Police in
Shetland are reporting a young man to the procurator fiscal after he
was detained for questioning by officers.
He was one of two men detained after being reported of possibly
tampering with the mooring equipment of a sailing boat berthed at
Victoria Pier, in the early hours of this morning.
The second man was released without charge.
Heroin user accepts search was legit
A SHETLAND man has admitted possessing “a tenner bag” of heroin when
he was stopped by police in Lerwick last year.
David McKinnon, aged 25, of Ulsta, Yell, was arrested on Hillhead
and searched on 19 September. He had initially pleaded not guilty
after questioning the way in which the police carried out the
search.
Sheriff Graeme Napier deferred sentence on the father of two for six
months for six months, while he looks for permanent work. |

Man admits theft from house
A TWENTY year old Shetland man admitted stealing £300, when he
appeared at the local sheriff court yesterday (Thursday).
Unemployed Grant Douglas, of Mansefield, Lerwick, stole the money
from a house in Hoofields, Lerwick, on 9 September last year.
Sentence was deferred for six months, and Douglas was told to save
up enough money to pay back what he had stolen when he came back to
court.Douglas is already on
probation, which the court heard he had been doing well at. |
